Gering Communities for Kids in the National Spotlight
When schools and communities move in the same direction, there is nothing we can’t accomplish.
Gering is proving what’s possible when an entire community commits to supporting children, families, and the early childhood workforce — even in the middle of a statewide childcare crisis and declining school enrollment.
As Seen on CBS Evening News — Eye on America
Gering Communities for Kids and Gering Public Schools were recently featured on a national CBS segment showcasing how innovative community partnerships can expand childcare access, strengthen the workforce, and create meaningful opportunities for young people.
Our story highlighted the impact of growing our own talent pipeline, elevating childcare professionals, and providing families with reliable, high-quality care.
Spotlighted by the Stanford University Center on Early Childhood
The Stanford Center for Early Childhood — through its Early Learning Nation “Community Solutions” series — recognized Gering as a leading example of how rural communities can innovate to meet the needs of children and families.
The piece celebrated our collaborative approach, our local leadership, and our commitment to building a stronger system for every child from birth to age five.
Quality | Affordable | Childcare | Preschool
We know so much about the critical development and learning that happens in children before the age of 5, which is why Gering Communities for Kids (C4K) is passionate about learning more. We want to be a part of the collaborative solution to address issues in access to childcare and preschool in the Gering Community. As we begin this important work in our neighborhoods, we are working in three key areas to begin building community solutions.

Goal 1: Assess Community Need
We use local data to identify childcare gaps and guide solutions that meet the real needs of Gering families.

Goal 2: Understanding Business & Economic Impact
Supporting childcare means supporting our workforce. We raise awareness of how childcare impacts local businesses, families, and Gering’s economic future.

Goal 3: Community Engagement
We connect families, businesses, and leaders to work together on local childcare solutions.
